The lion stretching his legs in a leisurely way. They made their way around to the wolves, and thats when it happened. One of the male wolves was surprised by the lion and immediately turned to the fence in hostile dispute. Camibo lunged to the bait and Thor, being stupid, held on to the chain, trying to pull the lion from the fence. Someone was yelling and then there was pain and blood. The wolf yiped loudly and the lion seemed to grow in his anger.
Suddenly the yelling, snarls, everything... stopped. The furry golden coat in front of him shining, blindingly bright. The word seemed to catch fire for a second and everything was bright like it was under the magnifying glass, and then.... Something knocked the wind out of him, he hit his head and everything went dark.
****
He woke with a start, sweating and painting he let his memories fade with the blackness. He looked around in the dark. He felt the tingle in his fingers and let the feeling slip over his body until he was standing on four legs with emerald green eyes. The panther padded silently around in the darkness, the beast knew something had woken him up and he made a circle around the building to check. He stopped and listened in the darkness. He didn't want to be found, even if the people were friendly. He detested the clan and even more the people who followed it.
He sat in the pure darkness and waited, watching. He was watching the entrance, whether someone had slipped in or was trying to slip in he didn't know, but he wanted to secure his little 'den'. The building was only foundation, the rest had crumpled to bits, it lead into the cellar, but if you couldn't see where you were stepping you'd step right off the makeshift stairs and tumble to the ground, which was basically in the basement. He had curved the stairs just right so the started straight and then made a quick jerk to the right.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. Anna was calmly standing outside a building, just minding her own business. While she was in the clan, she didn't really trust them or like them much. Just something about them seemed off. The clan was more of a convenience thing rather than something she needed. She had been on her own for two years before finding the clan almost a year ago. During that two years she had taught herself the very basics of surviving- how to gather food, hunt smaller animals, and most of all, being quiet. Being quiet was probably the most important thing in surviving. Before all this happened, she was never the type to be quiet. She loved to have fun, laugh, and all around be loud. Though now after everything that had happened, she didn't know many people so there was really no way to have fun.
Hearing footsteps, Anna snapped herself out of her thoughts and turned her head towards the noise quickly. "Hey, you. Come here." the voice speaking was gruff and not one that she recognized. Her face tensed up in nervousness as the man walked out of the shadows. She took a quick step back and he took two towards her. She concentrated hard, trying to make his brain hurt but she didn't want to cause any permanent damage. That she knew of at least. She felt her brain surge with power, her vision tunneling slightly. As soon as he dropped to the ground, she turned and ran. She ducked into the first building that seemed okay.
She stopped right inside the doorway, pressing her body against the wall. she was panting either from running or being scared, she wasn't really sure at this second. She concentrated, moving some of the light from outside into the building so she could have a look around. She gasped and lost her concentration. There was someone or something in the room. She didn't have time to see what it was before the light went out. "Uhm.. Hello..." She frowned, hoping that whoever or whatever it was.. was nice. She didn't know if she could use her powers again.

He didn't move and he barely breathed. He was one of the quietest animals and he wasn't giving it up. But she had already caught his presence somehow. His green eyes reflected back, danger and intelligence reflected in them. The giant cat took a step forward, his tail twitching in anticipation. Then, his ears swiveled, picking up on inhuman noises. His nose flared and he stepped closer to the girl. His intentions seemed sinister for sure, until suddenly the big cat bolted forward with silent stealth. He seemed dead set for mauling into her, until, that is, he turned just when he reached her up the stairs into the opening and then there was a loud thud and a scream.
Thor unleashed the black panther on the man, he'd read his thoughts, how blackened they were, what he was planning to do to the girl in his den. He'd also read what he had done to others. The man stopped screaming seconds later, and the panther stood in the moonlight, jaws locked around the warm sticky body of his kill. The man's body still shaking as it's spirit left it's body and traveled down into the earth. His tail twitched in agitation and he sunk his teeth in further before he heard the sickening crack of his spine breaking. He glared at the now decaying corpse. It wouldn't take long for others, predators and people alike, to find this kill and set in after it, whether for the clothing or the meat.
He shifted into his human form, wearing nothing, as he slept in the nude anyways and shifting involved either taring precious clothing or being naked, so it made things convenient. He picked up the dead body and carried it off into an ally and dumped it in an old dumpster that had seen it's last day. He quickly shifted back and trotted into his den.
His eyes accusingly met the girls, as if it were her fault he would now have to pack up and move his den. In all honesty he had already been there for so long it was time he moved. He changed into human shape, in the darkness it would make it easier on the girl to, one, not see a panther turn into a human, and two, the human being naked. He pulled on pants and started to pile the furs onto his body, he basically despised shirts. The pants he didn't half mind. He had several pairs, which he always noted to carry under his furs. "Lets go then," he said to the girl, not waiting for introductions but already heading for the entry way. He froze and scanned the clearing, his eyes changing into his leopards and he checked the surroundings. Already a raccoon was moving in at the smell of spilled blood. It cackled and then hissed.
With a glare Thor growled back, sounding so close to the leopard it was creepy. The raccoon warbled a scream and scampered off quickly, frightening by the sound of a well known enemy. He then sniffed the air and turned right. He stopped and checked if the girl was coming. He didn't want the lion's to find her. They had changed just as much with the nukes as the humans had, and it wouldn't sit well if he found her trapped in his den, even though there were several exits, just hard to reach and find.

Anna watched the beast as he jumped towards her and he cringed, sinking down to the floor, putting her arms up to cover her head. She wasn't really sure what that would stop but she wasn't really thinking of that. she was just trying to figure out what to do. She couldn't use her powers again. Her head already hurt from using them once. She wasn't very trained in her more sinister powers. She didn't want to get used to using them. She might use them too often then. After a few seconds, when she felt no pain and heard another scream, she peeked out from behind her eyes. The animal was gone. He had just left her there? what?
She stood up, looking around. She was more than confused at this point. Had the man followed here? Is that who the animal attacked? Why didn't he attack her? Why didn't he go for both of them? What if he was coming back for her after he killed the other person? She backed into the wall again as she saw the animal walk back in. Then he turned into a human and she released some of the tension from her body. Okay so maybe he was okay? When he told her to follow him, she obeyed. She wasn't about to stay near a dead body alone. Animals and humans would be there soon to take whatever they could from him. As they walked out to where he attacked the man, she gasped at the site of the blood. She was grateful, of course. she just wished things could have been different. There was death everywhere.
She caught up to him as he looked back. "Uhm, thank you so much." Her voice was still shaky. Anna could pretend to be a hardass all she wanted but in the end she was still the skinny little girl that couldn't protect herself very well. "I'm Anna."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x291/Foxpelt/run%20away%20dear/thorbg.png');,true][cs=2] I DON'T UNDERSTAND | [atrb=width,270] He nodded and then studied her before he put a finger to his lips to indicate silence would be needed. He lead her threw his usual trails, something he picked up from his panther, they were known to use the same trails and it was a deadly habit, but sometimes it paid off. After about a mile of traveling he veered around a corner leading off his main trail. They walked slowly and quietly before he turned and looked at the girl. He just held up one finger that meant to wait a second. He pulled off the furs and hid them behind an old dumpster that had been demolished by bricks. He then started to undo his pants, thats when he remembered all his scars. He bit his lip and then decided to risk shifting with it on. He managed to jump mostly out of them, but he stumbled a little and got frustrated easily with the contraption. This time he was a clouded leopard. A lot smaller and lighter. He looked at the girl with his crystal blue eyes before he leaped up on the dumpster, climbed the rocks stealthily and snooped around.
The room was big and wide and spacious. He shifted into human form and checked the weight capacity, it seemed stable enough and only the left corner next to the opening creaked. He also checked the windows and he opened them quietly. He checked the opening of the main trail and looked at the moon. He needed to hurry. He shifted into his black Panther form and hopped down the way he came. It would be too difficult for any of the lion's to really get up, infact it was easier with his clouded leopard going up than it was for his black panther going down. He nearly hit vital rocks that could have caused a small avalanche.
He grabbed the paints and hid behind the dumpster before shifting and pulling on the pants and grabbing his heavy furs. He looked at her quietly, and then looked passed her. He thought he saw something moving but if he did it stopped. He looked at her and spoke again, only now realizing how rusty his voice was from lack of use, "I go up, I help you, you watch where I step and you follow." He mentally shook his head at his stupidity, he was missing words in that sentence. He hopped up on the dumpster, feeling clumsy as a human and then sent a hand down to her and helped her up, his strong limbs leaving no room for mistake.
He half thought of carrying her to be quicker, but he decided she wouldn't appreciate him getting that familiar with her body so soon and she might even cause a avalanche and then they'd be in trouble. He climbed up the steep little slope before he came to the giant space and then the hole in the wall. The hole was about seven feet high, no problem for his animal self, big problem for his human self. He tossed it furs up first and then grabbed hold of the crumbling ledge. He tested his weight with the ledge, his right hand slipped and broke away a piece of the ledge. His heart beat suddenly and the rock slipped down the steep hill and landed on the ground with a few others with a loud thud. He then saw more shadows making their way over. He hadn't been wrong, they were being followed. He quickly grabbed hold and pulled himself up until he got one arm up and then the other and then he swung his leg up and rolled into the building. He looked down, his hand extended but his eyes glaring at the figures growing closer. They weren't human because even he couldn't hear them and he had animal ears. They were the Lions. He finally looked at the girl as he helped her in, his muscles flexing but it was easy, she weighed basically nothing compared to how much he weighed. And standing at 6'5 he better weigh more than her. He grabbed the furs and quickly darted with silent steps to the farthest wall and began to lay them out. "This will help keep us warm and happy," he said in a whisper that still felt way too loud, but he doubted she could even hear him. He nervously glanced at the opening in the wall.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. As he put his finger up to his mouth, she nodded, instantly understanding what he meant. It was very likely that they could be followed. She followed him, letting her mind wander as they walked. What if something popped out at them now? She could probably use her powers on him but she had never used them on animals if animals came after them. Would they even work on animals? Lost in her own thoughts, she almost ran into him when he stopped and held up a finger for her to wait. She probably should have been paying more attention but they had been walking a long time and Anna had become bored.
Almost as soon as they stopped walking, he shifted and she let out a soft gasp. Seeing him change into a human was one thing but seeing him turn into an animal almost astounded her. She watched admirably as he climbed to check out the building. Once again, not paying attention, she noticed he was talking to her. She nodded, licking her lips. She wasn't really sure if she would be able to climb up the rocks but she would try her damn hardest to do it. She follwed him to the dumpster and grasped onto him as he helped her up. She followed him carefully, chewing on her lip as he looked back. He looked worried but she couldn't see anything. Maybe he could see more than she could? she honestly didn't know and she didn't want to wait to find out. She was thankful when he helped her into the building. She wasn't quite tall enough to do it herself.
she shot him a smile as she landed on the floor as quietly as she could. She followed him as he laid out the furs, nodding as his whisper. "Thank you." Her voice, like his, was dropped as low as it could go. She sat down on the fur that he had laid on the ground, "You still haven't told me your name." She barely knew the man in front of her, but someone who helped save her life was okay in her book.

His name? God had it been so long he could barely remember his own name. Then he seemed to remember and said, "I'm Thorkell Gunthar." It seemed to roll easily off his lips and his hand even extended without his knowledge until he looked down at his own hand. His brows furrowed again, confused at his own action. Before she could shake it he let it drop and he turned to the window, agitated. He was worried about those lions. "Make yourself comfortable, I'll be back." He then shook his pants off, shifted into a big African Leopard and hopped out of the hole in the wall.
He mostly checked out the surroundings and even sniffed the markings, sure enough Naki and her cubs were nearby. Naki was one of his favorites, until the explosion. She had turned unforgiving and she had forgotten who he was almost immediately. She was protective of her cubs and she wouldn't go looking for a fight with him tonight, hopefully. After he studied her tracks he went off and ended up catching two rabbits before he grabbed two of his skin sacks and filled them with a clean water reserve and headed back all within 30 minutes. He checked his surroundings, he was in his human form this time, carrying the water sacks and the lifeless rabbits. He shifted, holding everything in his mouth carefully and hopped up into the room. He glanced around, finding her and trotted over, dropping the rabbits to the side and then walking over to the pants he had and he grabbed them, still holding the water and headed into a dark corner before he shifted and dressed. He walked over and handed her a water and sat down, crossing his legs Indian style. "I got us some breakfast," he said because the moon was already headed on it's way out and dawn would be a good time for a fire.
His ears constantly kept aware of the surroundings of the building, never wanting to be caught off guard. He dug threw the furs until he pulled out his knife grabbed one of the rabbits. He was just about to start skinning the thing when he suddenly looked at the girl. He flushed a little and rubbed the back of his neck, "Erm, would this bug you?" He felt so weird, being compelled to ask permission to skin his own kill in front of her. In the clan he would have done it blatantly, in a show of rebelliousness, and if not in the clan in front of others he would just do it without thought, so why would it matter now? He was acting strangely, the animal in his mind paced in agitation, growing impatient with Thor. Thor shooed the animal to the back of his mind, away from the human Thor. How long it had been since Thor did what he wanted, not what the animal obeyed.

"Thorkell." She let it roll off her tongue, "I like it." she started to exrent her hand to shake his but he dropped it before she had the chance to even reach her arm out past her body. That was weird. Maybe it had been awhile before he had talked to another person. Now that she thought about it, his voice did seem a little rusty when he spoke to her the first time. she leaned back against the wall, almost cuddling into the furs that he had laid down when he told her that he would be back. when she did actually spend the night with the clan, she got to sleep on furs but she hardly ever did that. Most of her nights were spent on the floor of a crumbling building or under a bush somewhere. Not exactly safe but whatever.
While he was gone, she tried to amuse herself by making circles in the fur but that didn't amuse her for very long so she closed her eyes, trying to get a little rest until he came back. She opened her eyes as soon as she heard a thump on the hard floor just in time to see him drop the rabbits and go into the shadows to turn back into his human form. "Oh, thanks, " She shot a smile at him, thankful that he had gotten them food and water. She was starving. She had eaten some breakfast that morning, but it was almost the next day. That was probably why she was so skinny, she almost never had access to good food. She took a long drink of the water, wiping her mouth when she was done.
At his question, Anna shook her head. "It's not a big deal. Just don't get anything near me." She smiled at him, trying to lighten the mood of the night. All in all, it had been pretty stressful. She stretched her legs out in front of her, leaning forward to stretch out her muscles, "So, you can turn into animals?" She paused, watching his hands as he skinned the animal, "Can you turn into any animal? Or just cat like animals?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x291/Foxpelt/run%20away%20dear/thorbg.png');,true][cs=2] I DON'T UNDERSTAND | [atrb=width,270]He smiled at her response as he followed the pattern of the animal's skin in quiet ease, his fingers already knowing what muscle would be where as it followed the skin lines. He looked up at her as she asked her questions. "Well, yes. I can turn into other animals but I have to imprint them first." He heard her second question as he finished up the first rabbit, they were both gutted, he always did that on sight of his killing spot, it was his tradition. "No I can turn into other things, cats are just easier," he said.
He went to work on the second rabbit and finished it faster than the first, it was relatively smaller. He glanced out the window and looked at the way the moon light cast it's shadow. He then looked back at the girl. "You should rest, I'm going to get this ready for breakfast," he said. He was also going to go track down some bird eggs if he had the chance. He stood up and found a size-able stick and fixed the rabbit to it. He leaned it up against the wall and scavenged the room for another. The floor creaked again in the left corner and he immediately stopped his search there.
His mind supplied him with all the information, taking in his surroundings. There wasn't a stick left in the room, at least not one long enough to do the job. He also had to hang the rabbit skins to dry. He would place them out of the window, but that would be too tempting for other creatures and humans alike, and the smell was enticing enough. He also needed to mark his area so predators knew he was here and wouldn't bother him.
He looked back at the girl, he would find out her story soon enough, and the less he knew the less attached he'd be. He studied the furs she lay on and then took in the room, as if there were something wrong with the whole scene, or maybe something too familiar about it. What could possibly be too familiar about this? When was there ever a girl under his protection? Well, there was Mary. But she was always protecting him, and his real mom.... Wow it had been forever since he had thought about her.... How long ago did the bombings go off? The first part of his military training had been to 'always keep track of the time', but then, he'd just been focused on killing himself.... He glanced away and out into the light of the moon, wishing he could be under it right now, flying around it and letting go. But this new world was cruel and unforgiving, if you didn't pay attention, someone would snap you out of the dreams and into the icy river of life. 'I must stay focused,' he thought with icy determination.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. "How do you imprint animals?" she had always been curious. Before the bombings, she was interested in religions. Now, after everything that had happened, she had found herself to be more interested in the different powers that people had obtained, including her own. Though she had never met anyone who shared either of her powers. She was mostly trying to figure out why she had gotten the power to kill people with her mind. She was starting to think that maybe it had something to do with your personality. She smiled at him, "I like cats. I have a pet cat.. Though I don't really know where she is right now." She frowned lightly, her cat always liked to roam and always found her way back to where Anna had been. But Anna wasn't there anymore. Oh well, it would work out.
She watched as her skinned the animals, cringing lightly. As many times that she had seen animals be skinned, she would never get used to it. Animals disgusted her, alive or dead, almost as much as humans disgusted her. "Wait, are you not going to sleep as well? You should probably sleep." She frowned, instantly becoming concerned about his health. He looked exhausted. "Please sleep for at least an hour." she paused, smirking at him, "I won't sleep until you do."
She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms as if somehow that would prove her point. "I get you have things to do but you won't be much help to either of us if you're falling asleep or dead." Him being dead would not make her happy. She had taken quite a liking to him, whether it be because he reminded her of her dad or something of the like or because he had helped her without her even asking for it. Regardless, she didn't want him sick or dead.

t h e y ' r e b u r n i n g o n t h e b r i d g e turning off the lights we're on the run i can see it in your eyes if nothing is safe then
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x291/Foxpelt/run%20away%20dear/thorbg.png');,true][cs=2] I DON'T UNDERSTAND | [atrb=width,270] He looked at her, his eyes cat like in the darkness. It was almost pitch black outside now, the moon was slowly fading away behind buildings and rubble, and soon the horizon line. He seemed to study her closer, seeming to understand she needed comfort, whether it was comfort that he was safe or comfort that she needed to feel safe, he couldn't tell. His body was tense, torn between outside and in here with her quietness, her peace. He finally spoke, "All right kattunya, I'll sleep." He barely recognized the endearment, one he'd often used with his mother. It was a viking endearment, he often spoke Norwegian with Mary, she said it kept him closer to home.
With that he laid out the skins and set the rabbit meat by the other one, keeping it off the ground by binding it to the stick as well. He then walked over to Anna in the darkness, his bare callused feet reaching the plush of furs and he slunk down into its softness. He was quite tired, but he'd stay awake until she was asleep, not because he didn't trust her, because oddly enough he did, or else he would have abandoned her in his old den, he now realized. He wondered how he would react if someone or something hurt her and he didn't like it. His body tensed beside hers on the furs, though they weren't touching he knew she'd probably feel it or sense his distress somehow if he didn't disguise it.
He decided to answer her earlier question that he'd ignored. "I imprint on them by taking in their DNA. If the animal gives willingly they can live and I can basically find them anywhere they go. But I feel what they feel, if not to the same extent,so it's easier to just imprint on the ones I kill." That sounded cold, but he'd learned long ago that trying to keep a friend or two was a dangerous job, it could cost you precious focus, and focus could mean the difference between everything.
Disliking the subject being directed on him, he asked, "What are your powers? I know you disabled that man's mind, I felt it." His pale green eyes shimmering in the black space, his emerald orbs trained on hers, locked on her eyes that said every feeling or every thought. He watched her steady breathing and he could hear her heart beating with his specially trained ears.

She smiled when he said he would sleep, "That word.. kat-" She gave up trying to pronounce it, "What does that mean?" she relaxed a little as he sat down next to her, a smile instantly appearing on her face. She quickly forced it back, hopefully before he noticed. It wasn't hard to keep the smile gone once she realized that he was tensed up. she was tempted to ask if he was okay, once again, but she shot him a soft smile instead. She didn't want to make it seem like she was worried about him, even if she was. Now that he was sitting down, she laid down though didn't close her eyes to sleep.
Instead she listened to him talk, "So what other animals can you turn into?" she had noticed that he became uncomfortable talking about killing the animals and she was still curious about it but she didn't want him to be uncomfortable. she felt her eyes growing heavy but she didn't want to sleep just yet, especially when he asked about her powers. She let her eyes drop as he mentioned the man's mind, "I'm not really sure what it is. I didn't even know I had that one until a few weeks ago." She paused licking her lips and turning on her side to face him, "It basically gives them a terrible headache. Once I made someone forget who they were. But it seems to only work when I feel like I'm in danger and it always gives me a really bad headache. I guess because I haven't used it that much." she paused, studying his face.
"I can also manipulate light. Like, I can move it around, put it into balls and throw it. It comes in handy when I have to hide. What about you? Do you have any other powers?" she moved her hands under her head, using them as a makeshift pillow while she waited for him to answer.

His smile was soft and maybe a little bit drowsy, but he wouldn't admit that. "Maybe I will tell you one day, but not now eskede."(es-kay-dah) The familiar words were rolling back in his tiredness. He hadn't realized how tired he was until he finally lay down. His eyelids were growing heavy and he was having a hard time paying attention to their surroundings. It was if the strength was zapped out of him. Eskede was one that was fairly special, he began to think of others he knew, he was rusty but if anything Mary ever taught him stuck, this would be it. His homeland language.
"I've got a few birds, a couple of canines and miscellaneous creatures," he said. Birds were difficult, the hardest part about them was learning how to take off without exerting one's self, and how to land without completely crashing. He couldn't catch squat as any of the birds so he learned to shift into cat right before he hit the ground and would attack prey like that, but that seemed a little unfair and it was difficult anyways so he barely ever did it unless he was desperate. He hadn't been desperate in a while, about two years to be exact.
He watched her describe her powers with enthusiasm. It may not have been the happy sort, but she was definitely passionate about the subject. He smile thoughtfully, noticing how pretty she was when she was talking about something she seemed to know a lot about, or at least something no one else seemed to know about. She was talking about lights now but his ears weren't listening to that, they'd focused on his heart beat, or was it hers? He smiled and inched a little closer in the darkness, "Shh, skatten min, no more questions. Sleep now, I'll watch over you," he said in a deep warm voice. Even as he spoke though his eyelids closed and he was already asleep.
***
When morning came there was already a small fire going in the furthest corner closest to the hole in the wall and a few windows, there was also a hole in the ceiling, which Thor had managed to make bigger without killing anyone. He had found an extra stick for the rabbit and also managed to use some wire from some metal mesh lying around to bind some sticks together to hold the rabbits up on each side of the fire. He'd salvaged a very damaged pan and had managed to find some bird eggs, he'd never tried these eggs, which were speckled in brown and tan. He had a small skin sac, just like the one he used for water, and was already pulling off strips of the rabbit and putting it in the bag for later. He had found some berries, which he'd known to be safe, he believed they were black berries. Also he'd found some tomatoes, which he wasn't partial too but she might want it. Otherwise he was going to send it on down the road to his raccoon buddies, that being a joke. He used his knife to strip the rabbit's meat off and placed it in the bag on the ground. He'd already placed scent markers and warded off the front with a set of snares. He'd have to watch Anna when they left the place, if they left. He was pretty rested, as rested as you can get, so he didn't care one way or the other. But if they were staying there he was going to push further into the building and that way they weren't so exposed to the hole in the wall.
He glanced out the window when a noise caught his attention, there was a deer outside, normally he'd go for a deer, but he was in a forgiving mood, plus the rabbit was enough for now. The deer snorted and side stepped, flicking it's ears and tail nervously as it spotted his movement from the high window. It hesitated, as if torn between running and the fresh grass. He sent out a quiet groan like noise and the deer turned it's head and stared, a deer in the headlights look. It seemed to listen to the birds and it relaxed and went back to eating the grass, it was just keeping its eyes firmly on that window though and it was very nervous.
Thor had been sitting there for a while, listening to the early news, and by news he meant the birds. They were his alarm system during the day. They all worked together. If a lion trespassed on his territory it came straight to him, he protected them from the lions just as they warned him from them. They didn't exactly speak in words, but he could catch their tune, and if there was no tune at all, he was in danger. He turned to look at the sleepy girl on his bed, he'd piled more pelts on her when he'd left just before dawn, which was an hour after he slept. He was a light sleeper and the birds awakened him immediately. He'd done his scent warnings and then had foraged for breakfast and that's where we are now, all caught up.
And now he was studying the girl, well more like woman, now that he was looking her over from his spot by the window. She had dark curly locks of hair and a soft innocence about her face. She seemed angelic, sleeping in her dreams a world away. Her lips were delicate and .... 'And what? What is it about her lips that are making me feel so...,' he licked his lips, though they were hardly dry, and looked at her with a sort of fascination. He suddenly realized, 'I'm attracted to this girl.' But he didn't want to be. He wanted... he wanted... he just wanted to be left alone to his own devices. He'd tried long ago to make things work with women, but they were strange and cruel creatures. Shelby had been like that. He winced at the memory and felt shameful for his stupidity, he wouldn't fall for that again. He offer Anna protection, and only that,... for now. He had to see what she could offer him. He bit his lip, 'That is unfair Thor, she doesn't owe you anything, you just helped her and you want to ... have a little fun? And to what expense? You can't even kiss a girl right let alone get a home run.' He turned away from her, not wanting to look at her anymore, not wanting to see what he could never have, and he never wanted her to know that part of him. How he was a dud instead of a stud. "Hah," he scoffed out loud, if only women hadn't looked at him with just dollar signs back then and hit on him with his classy marine's uniform, then maybe.... Maybe he might have found someone to over look his weird oddities and his horrible sex life, god knew most women couldn't handle that last one. He shook himself mentally and looked at his task at hand. He also realized he was wearing nothing, and if she chose to wake up just now she'd get an eyeful. He slipped on his pants, not bothering to buckle, he already felt enclosed in his own skin after his mind ran away with itself. He was never one to be a big fighter, at least in the sense most people think. Sure he was a great leader, but he usually was a leader because people chose him to be, not because he wanted to be. He preferred solitude to whining people, but... at the same time he'd never abandon a good person in need. That's how he got in this mess in the first place. He glanced at Anna, maybe not a bad mess though.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. She smiled softly at him when he told her to sleep. She nodded lightly, scooting a little closer to him and extending her arm so it was barely touching him without even realizing it. It only took a few seconds before she fell asleep, drifting into her own little world that her mind tended to make up when she was asleep. She awoke before dawn, out of habit, only to find that she was sleeping almost too close to him. She scooted away a little bit, leaving her hand touching him so she would know he was there as she slept. For once, she let herself fall back asleep. Normally, she didn't think it was a smart idea to sleep for so long but being with him, she felt protected.
After falling back asleep, she returned to her dream world much to her pleasure. It had been a long time since she had gotten to sleep for so long. Finally waking up from her slumber, she fluttered her eyes open, a smile instantly appearing on her face as she remembered the events of last night. She barely knew Thor but there was just something about him that she couldn't get out of her mind. He just made her feel so protected. It was then that she noticed that she had been covered with more furs. Her smile grew wider as she realized that Thor must have covered her up with more when he woke up. She sat up slowly, running her hair through her hair, trying to smooth it out.
Her hair was wonderful before the accident but now without being able to style it, it was usually just a big, thick, curly mess. It had been suggested to her that she cut it off many times before, she just couldn't bring herself to do it. She climbed out from under the furs, adjusting her shirt so that it wasn't showing more of her skin than need be. It was almost time for new clothes but clothes were hard to come by these days. She walked over to Thor, a smile plastered on her lips. "Good morning."
Now that it was daylight, she took the chance to study him. she started with his face. He was handsome, no doubt about it. His face was chiseled, just what she liked. His hair was a mess but it still managed to look good. she moved her eyes down to his shirtless chest and a smirk erupted on her lips. she quickly looked back up at his face, "Oh, a man that can cook. I like that." Now that she wasn't nearly as tired and her life wasn't in immediate danger, she felt more like herself. She was a firecracker, that was a given but what most people didn't know was that she wasn't like that all the time. "So.." She smiled at him, "Are you ever going to tell me what Kattunge means?"

She smiled at him, "Are you ever going to tell me what Kattunge means?" Her smile hit him like a ton of bricks in the gut. He was taken by surprise.
He smiled at her quietly as he cracked the eggs in the pan, now that she was awake, and let them sizzle into the hot metal. He did a one handed crack with professional quality. He had actually been a fairly good cook back before the bombs, but he no longer cooked for sport but for necessity. He watched her as she quite obviously checked him out. His mouth smirked at her appreciation. He hadn't mentioned his mind reading abilities, and now he was glad. His eyes glimmered with a soft sort of mischief. "No, ille(ee-lah) min, now sit down and help yourself." He had to use a stick to flip the eggs, one thing he had forgotten about. When they seemed edible he set them aside to cool. He presented the bag of berries and the tomato he found and continued to strip off the meat. He watched the window as he did, keeping his eyes on the deer, who had already forgotten about the man in the window and had completely abandoned himself in his clovers. His tail flicked at the flies and he didn't lift his head from his bounty.
The deer meant he had an alarm system, if the deer moved, he had be ready to fight. He wasn't going to switch dens after all this trouble, although... it wasn't much trouble compared to what it would be later. He looked at Anna again and smiled lightly. "What do you normally do?" he asked her quietly, letting his guard slip on the birds and the deer. The deer would make enough noise to alert him if something were coming so he could relax for now.
He sunk to the floor next to her and ate the strips of meat, warming up by the fire. His body was naturally warmer than others, which was nice but also not nice when it was hot out. It meant he'd normally stay away from hunting or he'd stick to his lion form, which handled the sun a lot better than most animals.
